Shed Media Scotland is ramping up its TV output

Shed Media Scotland, part of the Shed Media Group is ramping up its TV output with a major new signing from within the group.

Ed Levan, the current Head of Development at Ricochet, also part of the Shed Media group, will embark on his new position as Head of Factual this month, spearheading a new TV production department at the Scottish branch of the super indie.

To date Shed Media Scotland has been the drama development and digital strategy hub for the company.

Levan’s arrival heralds a new regional focus for the company as part of the evolving Shed Media strategy, bringing TV production in line with the rest of the Scottish office’s output.

Ed Levan said of his move: ’this is a massive challenge for me and as such I am hugely excited by the prospect. Scotland represents a sizeable opportunity in terms of commissioning with the government putting substantial funding and support into creative enterprise. Shed Media Scotland will be poised at the centre of an incredibly positive collision of editorial and economic opportunity.’

Levan started his career over 6 years ago at Ricochet where he started as a researcher, then quickly ascended through the ranks to development, developing and casting Supernanny for Channel 4 where his claim to fame was plucking Jo Frost from obscurity to global fame.

After the first series of Supernanny in the UK he moved to LA to work on the first American series of Supernanny for ABC then returned to the UK to direct It's Me Or The Dog and Supernanny for Channel 4.

Then came Producer and Director credits on the award winning Blood Sweat and T shirts for BBC3 which has since become an ongoing franchise and international best seller.

His most recent credit was as Senior Producer on Cowboy Builders for Five and for the last year he has occupied the position of Head of Development at Ricochet overseeing development of new formats and series.

Nick Southgate, CEO of Shed Media commented:  ‘Ed’s exactly the right person for this role. He’s entrepreneurial, full of ideas and an extremely talented programme maker. I have every confidence that he is going to make a huge success of our factual output from Scotland. Shed Media is 100% committed to our Scottish hub. We’ve had fantastic help from Scottish Enterprise, for which I thank them, and we look forward to growing the business and creating a raft of new hit shows.’
